NYC to March Madness: The Smart Way to Get There

Philadelphia hosts First and Second Round games of the 87th NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 20 and Sunday, March 22, 2026. Six total games at Wells Fargo Center (now branded as Xfinity Mobile Arena) at 3601 S Broad Street in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. Saint Joseph's University is the host institution. The 68-team bracket is revealed on Selection Sunday, March 15 — five days before tip-off.

For basketball fans in New York, the Philadelphia games are the closest March Madness action — 95 miles and roughly two hours south on I-95 via the New Jersey Turnpike. But a Friday afternoon departure into Turnpike traffic, a late-night return after the evening session, and the challenge of parking at the South Philly sports complex make driving yourself a high-stress proposition. Amtrak solves the city-to-city leg but drops you at 30th Street Station — still 20-30 minutes from the arena with no easy transit option on game nights.

True North VIP provides door-to-arena city-to-city car service for the March Madness Philadelphia games. Your chauffeur picks you up at your NYC address, drives you directly to the Wells Fargo Center entrance, parks and waits during the games, and drives you home after the final buzzer — even if that is midnight after a double-overtime thriller. For groups, our Executive Sprinter seats up to 14 fans for the ultimate road-trip experience.

Game Schedule & Sessions

Six games across two days. Exact matchups and tip-off times are announced after Selection Sunday (March 15).

First Round

Friday, March 20

Four First Round (Round of 64) games across two sessions. The early session typically begins around 12:00-12:30 PM ET with two back-to-back games. The late session starts around 6:30-7:00 PM ET with two more games. Each session runs 3-4 hours depending on game pace and timeouts. The late session can end around 11:00 PM-12:00 AM.

Depart NYC (early session): 9:00-9:30 AM

Depart NYC (late session): 3:00-3:30 PM

Return to NYC: After midnight for late session

Second Round

Sunday, March 22

Two Second Round (Round of 32) games in a single session, typically starting in the afternoon. The winners from Friday's games compete for a spot in the Sweet 16. Sunday sessions are shorter (one session vs. two) and end earlier. Weekend Turnpike traffic is lighter than Friday, making the return drive smoother.

NYC to Philly Route & Venue

The I-95/NJ Turnpike corridor connects Manhattan to the Wells Fargo Center door-to-door.

Distance & Drive Time

95 miles from Midtown Manhattan to Wells Fargo Center. Normal conditions: 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes. Friday afternoon departure: allow 2.5-3 hours. Late-night return: typically under 2 hours.

The Route

Lincoln Tunnel or Holland Tunnel to NJ Turnpike South → I-95 South through New Jersey → across the Delaware Memorial Bridge area → I-76 East into Philadelphia → exit to the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. Your chauffeur knows the optimal tunnel choice based on real-time traffic.

Wells Fargo Center

3601 S Broad Street, South Philadelphia. Recently completed a $400 million renovation with upgraded concourses and suites. Located in the Sports Complex alongside Citizens Bank Park (Phillies) and Lincoln Financial Field (Eagles). 6-minute walk from NRG Station (SEPTA Broad Street Line).

Arena Parking

Eight security-patrolled lots surrounding the arena. General parking $20-35. Our chauffeur drops you at the arena entrance, parks in the designated lot, and meets you at a pre-arranged pickup point after the game — no walking through dark parking lots post-game.

NJ Turnpike Tolls

Turnpike tolls are included in your fare. The route passes through several toll plazas on the Turnpike and approaching Philadelphia. Our vehicles use E-ZPass for faster transit. No surprises or reimbursement needed.

Late-Night Return

After the late Friday session (ending around 11 PM-midnight), the Turnpike is nearly empty. The return drive is typically 1 hour 45 minutes. Your chauffeur drives while your group decompresses from the game. Back in Manhattan by 1:00-2:00 AM.
