During the 2026 UN General Assembly, the NYPD and the Mayor's office announced closures around UN Headquarters from September 20 to 26. First Avenue closed from 41st to 48th Streets, and 44th to 47th Streets closed between First and Second Avenues, with rolling closures elsewhere in Midtown.

Where should your car drop you off for the UN?
For the UN General Assembly, plan to be dropped off outside the secure zone, usually on Second Avenue or Third Avenue in the East 40s, and walk to the UN visitor or credential checkpoint. Cars cannot enter the closed blocks around First Avenue, and short traffic freezes can hold cars in place for a while.

How long does it take to reach the UN from the airports?
