Asia Week New York Transportation
23 galleries between 64th and 80th Streets. Six auction houses with overlapping sale days. Christie's in Midtown, Sotheby's on Madison Avenue, Bonhams on West 57th — and no efficient subway route connecting them. A dedicated chauffeur turns a nine-day art market marathon into a curated itinerary.
Why Collectors Choose a Private Chauffeur for Asia Week
Asia Week New York is the largest Asian art market event in the Western Hemisphere. Every March, 23 galleries, six major auction houses, and dozens of museums across Manhattan coordinate exhibitions, auctions, lectures, and private viewings over nine concentrated days. The 2026 edition — the 17th anniversary — runs March 19 through 27, with the Open House Weekend on March 21-22.
The challenge for collectors is geography. Galleries cluster on the Upper East Side between 64th and 80th Streets, but auction previews happen in Midtown (Christie's at Rockefeller Plaza, Bonhams on West 57th), contemporary dealers show in Chelsea (West 21st-26th Streets), and museums are scattered from the Met on Fifth Avenue to the Rubin Museum in Chelsea and the China Institute downtown. Attending a morning auction preview at Sotheby's on Madison Avenue, an afternoon gallery opening on East 78th, and an evening lecture at The Frick Collection requires moving efficiently across neighborhoods that taxis and rideshares serve unpredictably.
True North VIP provides reservation-based hourly chauffeur service built for exactly this kind of multi-stop itinerary. Your chauffeur waits outside each gallery or auction house, your vehicle stores catalogs and purchases between stops, and you move between Manhattan's art districts without losing time. For international collectors flying into JFK, LaGuardia, or Newark, we coordinate airport transfers with complimentary flight tracking.
Asia Week Gallery Districts
The 23 participating galleries are spread across four Manhattan neighborhoods. A dedicated chauffeur connects them in minutes instead of subway transfers.
Upper East Side (64th-80th Streets)
The densest gallery cluster for Asia Week. Joan B Mirviss (East 78th), Onishi Gallery (East 79th), Carlton Rochell and Oliver Forge & Brendan Lynch (East 80th), Sebastian Izzard (East 76th), The Art of Japan and Egenolf Gallery (East 77th), TAI Modern and Thomsen Gallery (East 67th), Dai Ichi Arts (East 64th), Zetterquist (East 66th), Fu Qiumeng Fine Art (East 80th), Art Passages (East 72nd), and Freeman's (East 67th). Walkable within this cluster — your chauffeur stages on Park or Madison Avenue.
Midtown (52nd-58th Streets)
Christie's at 20 Rockefeller Plaza, Bonhams at 111 West 57th Street, Scholten Japanese Art at 145 West 58th, and Ralph M. Chait at 16 East 52nd Street. Heritage Auctions previews at 445 Park Avenue. This cluster is 15-20 blocks south of the Upper East Side galleries — a quick 5-10 minute drive but a 20-30 minute walk.
Chelsea (West 21st-26th Streets)
Seizan Gallery at 525 West 26th Street and Tina Kim Gallery at 525 West 21st Street showcase contemporary Asian works. Chelsea is across town from the Upper East Side — 25-35 minutes by car depending on traffic, and impractical by subway for a quick gallery visit.
Tribeca & Lower East Side
Ippodo Gallery at 35 North Moore Street in Tribeca and Space 776 at 37 Clinton Street on the Lower East Side. The Loewentheil Photography of China Collection shows at 10 West 18th Street near the Flatiron District. These downtown locations are best combined into a single loop before or after the main Upper East Side circuit.
Auction House Schedule & Locations
Six auction houses conduct Asian art sales during Asia Week. Sales cluster in the final five days (March 23-27) — and sessions at different houses overlap, making a dedicated chauffeur essential for collectors bidding at multiple locations.

A lecture at The Frick on 70th Street, a gallery opening on 78th, then dinner at a collector's favorite. Your chauffeur handles each transition and drives you home when the evening wraps.
Hourly Service vs. Point-to-Point for Art Collectors
For Asia Week, hourly chauffeur service is dramatically more efficient than booking individual rides between galleries.
Hourly Service (Recommended)
- Chauffeur and vehicle dedicated to you for the entire block of hours
- No wait between stops — car is staged outside each gallery
- Vehicle doubles as secure storage for catalogs and purchases
- Flexible itinerary: skip galleries, add stops, extend hours
- 3-hour minimum; most Asia Week clients book 5-8 hours per day
- Ideal for collectors visiting 8+ galleries in a single day
Point-to-Point Transfers
- Best for single-destination trips: airport to hotel, hotel to one auction
- Airport transfers with flight tracking (60/90 min complimentary wait)
- Corporate groups attending a specific auction or opening reception
- Evening dinner transfer after a full day of gallery visits
- More cost-effective when you only need 1-2 rides in a day
- Intermediate stops available at $25 per stop for minor detours
