Fleet Week NYC Transportation & Car Service
Professional car service for Fleet Week New York 2026. Transportation to the Intrepid Museum, Manhattan Cruise Terminal, and Brooklyn Cruise Terminal — with hourly service ideal for families navigating ship tour lines during July 4th weekend.
Why Car Service for Fleet Week
Fleet Week brings U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard ships to New York City each May, coinciding with July 4th weekend. Free ship tours, the spectacular Parade of Ships up the Hudson River, military demonstrations in Times Square, and public events across the city draw hundreds of thousands of visitors — with peak demand on Saturday and Sunday of the holiday weekend.
The ships dock along the west side of Manhattan — primarily at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum (Pier 86 at W 46th Street) and the Manhattan Cruise Terminal (Piers 88-92 at W 48th-55th Street). The 12th Avenue corridor between 42nd and 55th Streets becomes extremely congested during Fleet Week. Parking is scarce, rideshare pickup zones are chaotic, and the area was not designed for the pedestrian traffic Fleet Week generates.
True North VIP provides car service to all Fleet Week locations — including the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook, which has no convenient subway access. Our hourly chauffeur service is particularly popular for families: ship tour lines can stretch 2-4 hours on peak days, and having your vehicle available means children can take breaks, you can visit multiple ship locations, and you leave on your own schedule. Child seats available at $25 each.
Fleet Week Ship Locations & Events
Ships are docked at three primary locations along the Hudson River waterfront.
Intrepid Museum / Pier 86
W 46th Street & 12th Avenue
The primary Fleet Week hub. The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum hosts the main visitor experience with adjacent naval vessels open for free tours. Approach via 42nd Street westbound to 12th Avenue, then north to 46th Street.
Manhattan Cruise Terminal
Piers 88-92, W 48th-55th St & 12th Ave
Additional ships dock at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal piers north of the Intrepid. Walking distance from Pier 86. Approach via 55th Street westbound to 12th Avenue. Some ships offer separate boarding queues here.
Brooklyn Cruise Terminal
72 Bowne Street, Red Hook
Some Fleet Week vessels dock at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook. No convenient subway access — car service is one of the most practical transportation options. 20-30 minutes from Manhattan via the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel.
Parade of Ships
The opening-day Parade of Ships sees naval vessels sail up the Hudson River past the Statue of Liberty and under the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. Best viewed from Battery Park, the Hudson River Greenway, or the west-facing piers. Typically held on the Wednesday opening day.
Ship Tours (Free)
Free ship tours are available throughout Fleet Week. Expect lines of 2-4 hours on peak weekend days. Tours include guided walks through Navy destroyers, amphibious assault ships, and Coast Guard cutters. Weekday visits offer significantly shorter lines.
Peak Days
Saturday and Sunday of July 4th weekend are by far the busiest days of Fleet Week. The 12th Avenue corridor is heavily congested, and ship tour lines are at their longest. For a more manageable experience, visit on a weekday — Wednesday through Friday.
Getting to the Ships
Drop-off strategies for each Fleet Week location. The west side of Manhattan is heavily congested during the event — our chauffeurs know the best approach routes.
Intrepid / Pier 86
- Approach via 42nd Street westbound to 12th Avenue
- North on 12th Ave to 46th Street drop-off
- Avoid approaching from the north — 12th Ave congested southbound
- Pickup: same area or side streets off 11th Avenue
Manhattan Cruise Terminal
- Approach via 55th Street westbound to 12th Avenue
- Drop-off at 55th Street and 12th Avenue entrance
- Walking distance from Intrepid — consider one drop-off for both
- Hotels in Hell's Kitchen / Midtown West are closest
Brooklyn Cruise Terminal
- 72 Bowne Street, Red Hook, Brooklyn
- From Manhattan: Hugh L. Carey Tunnel → Hamilton Ave → Bowne St
- No subway station nearby — car service strongly recommended
- 20-30 minutes from Midtown Manhattan
