How long is the drive from Long Island City to JFK?
Without traffic, Long Island City to JFK is about 25 to 27 minutes and 15 to 16 miles, by routing estimates for the three trips below. The route stays in Queens, on the Long Island Expressway or the BQE and then the Van Wyck. The Van Wyck is the slow part at rush hour, so plan for more.
| Trip | Distance | Drive time without traffic |
|---|---|---|
| Terminal 8 to the Ravel Hotel, arrival | 15.8 mi | about 27 min (estimate) |
| One Court Square to Terminal 4 | 15.2 mi | about 25 min (estimate) |
| MoMA PS1 to Terminal 5 | 15.3 mi | about 25 min (estimate) |
Drive times are estimates (OSRM free-flow routing with no traffic, checked Oct 30, 2026). Traffic varies, and rush hour, weather, tunnel delays and airport construction add time.
When should I leave Long Island City for JFK?
Work back from the time your airline asks you to be at the airport, then add the drive estimate and a traffic buffer. The Long Island Expressway and the Van Wyck are slow on weekday afternoons, and JFK construction can add time at the terminals. If you are unsure, choose an earlier pickup.
Which route does the chauffeur take, and what tolls apply?
From Long Island City, the chauffeur takes the Long Island Expressway east, or the BQE to the Grand Central Parkway, then the Van Wyck Expressway south to JFK. For Terminals 5, 7 and 8, the JFK Expressway covers the last miles. The whole trip stays in Queens, with no bridge or tunnel.
| Road or crossing | What it does on this trip | Toll |
|---|---|---|
| Long Island Expressway (I-495) | East from Long Island City | No toll |
| BQE and Grand Central Parkway | Alternative toward the Van Wyck | No toll |
| Van Wyck Expressway (I-678) | South to Terminals 1 and 4 | No toll |
| JFK Expressway | Serves Terminals 5, 7 and 8 | No toll |
This route has no tolls in either direction, and it stays outside the Manhattan Congestion Relief Zone, so that charge does not apply. If traffic sends the chauffeur another way, any toll is in your price, and you see the all-in price before you book.
Where will my chauffeur meet me when I land at JFK?
On the ride home, the meeting point comes first. The chauffeur tracks your flight into JFK, so you can collect your bags before you call. At Terminals 1, 4 and 8, the car meets you at the arrivals curb. At Terminals 5 and 7, take the free AirTrain to the Howard Beach lot, where the chauffeur meets you.
- Add your airline and flight number when you book. The chauffeur tracks the flight from takeoff.
- After landing, collect your bags and call 888-887-0324 or the chauffeur number in your booking.
