New Year's Eve Transportation NYC

New Year's Eve falls on Thursday, December 31, 2026, and the celebration continues into Friday, January 1, 2027. The Times Square Alliance has posted a free webcast schedule, while the final in-person program and viewing instructions remain pending as of October 26, 2026. The familiar search phrase “Times Square ball drop 2026” can also refer to the celebration that welcomed 2026 on December 31, 2025. This guide focuses on New Year's Eve in New York City, the upcoming celebration.

You can watch from the Times Square public viewing area, follow the official webcast, attend a ticketed venue or join the Central Park Midnight Run. The Times Square Alliance's prior-edition FAQ described outdoor viewing as free and first-come, with viewing areas opening at 3 p.m. and entry points at West 45th, 49th, 52nd and 56th Streets from Sixth and Eighth Avenues. These prior-edition details are useful as background; as of October 26, the checked Prospect Park page showed only the prior year's fireworks announcement and Brooklyn Bridge Park had no December 31 listing, so check current organizer pages before finalizing plans.

The official webcast is an indoor option for watching the Times Square countdown. For a New Year's Eve event in NYC, confirm the venue's ticket, address and entry instructions before arranging a car.

For the Central Park race, check NYRR's event page for race registration, access and route details.

For Midtown and surrounding neighborhoods, see Times Square car service and Manhattan car service. The NYC events hub and NYC event transportation cover other event-night trip plans, and our guide to the best New Year's Eve car service in NYC compares providers.

A chauffeur can take you to an open, legal meeting point outside the Times Square barricades. The car stops where traffic controls allow, then you walk to the viewing entrance or venue. For New Year's Eve in Manhattan, the legal approach follows the live street plan.

The city closure map available on October 26 covered the previous celebration, so use current NYC and Times Square Alliance updates to choose a legal street corner and walking route for December 31. A car can still connect you with a Midtown hotel, restaurant, airport or meeting point outside the restricted area.

For a Times Square business or ticketed event, ask the venue for its entry address and approach instructions. Share those details with your chauffeur along with the event name. See NYC car service for point-to-point travel across the city.

A New Year's Eve pickup and return plan needs an open legal meeting point outside Times Square barricades and a backup location that every passenger can find. Share both locations with your group before the evening. Follow current police directions and call dispatch if event controls require another meeting point. Use these steps to set a pickup plan that every passenger can follow.

1. Enter the exact pickup and destination addresses, including the venue entrance, when you request the ride.
2. Select a legal point outside the barricades and a nearby backup.
3. Send the two meeting locations to everyone in the group before leaving for the event.
4. Keep your phone charged and call dispatch if the route, meeting location or passenger count changes.
5. After the celebration, walk to the agreed point and follow police directions. Call dispatch if a barrier closes the primary location so you can use the backup plan.

Check MTA, Long Island Rail Road and NJ TRANSIT advisories near December 31; event-specific service schedules for the coming celebration were pending at the October 26 check.

Transit may help you travel between a meeting point outside the perimeter and another part of the city. Times Square station entrances, exits and nearby streets can be affected by event operations. Confirm the station you plan to use, the direction of travel and late-night service with the relevant agency before leaving. The NYC airport car service page links to airport options, including JFK car service, LGA car service and Newark airport car service.

Choose a vehicle by passenger count, then enter the bag count so you can compare suitable classes. True North VIP offers six vehicle classes:

Luggage room depends on the vehicle, so include every bag when you request the trip. For a group traveling with event clothing, gifts or other large items, call dispatch before selecting a class. The True North VIP fleet page lists all six vehicle classes and passenger capacities.

Point-to-point service suits one planned trip between two addresses; hourly service starts with a three-hour minimum for a longer evening or several planned stops. Compare the minimum and vehicle rate with the hours your group expects to use the car.

For one dinner reservation or a direct return trip, enter the pickup and destination as a point-to-point request. If the evening includes several addresses, write down the planned stops and timing, then ask dispatch which service type fits that schedule. See hourly chauffeur service in NYC for details.

Add your airline flight number when you request an airport ride; flight tracking is included. There is a 60-minute wait time after a domestic landing and a 90-minute wait time after an international landing, in every vehicle class. Every regular pickup has a 15-minute grace period.

A $25 meet-and-greet add-on brings the chauffeur inside the terminal. Child seats are $25 each in SUVs and Sprinters, never in sedans. Include the passenger count, bag count and flight details in the request so you can select a suitable vehicle and see the pickup instructions. Call dispatch if you need help planning the airport pickup with an event-night destination.

Dress for an extended outdoor evening with warm layers, weather-resistant outerwear and comfortable walking shoes. Central Park's December 31 climate normal is a high of 41°F and low of 30°F, based on 1991 to 2020 records; check the forecast during event week for current conditions.

The prior-edition Times Square FAQ described bag searches and restrictions on backpacks, large bags, umbrellas, chairs, blankets, coolers, alcohol, drones, weapons and other obstructive items. It also said the viewing area had no public portable restrooms and leaving a pen meant giving up that viewing spot. These are previous-edition details; check the current organizer guidance for entry, belongings, restroom access and re-entry.

Charge your phone, save your ride details and share the return meeting point before you enter the event area. If you are attending a ticketed venue, bring its admission instructions and confirm where the vehicle can legally stop. For event updates, check the official Times Square and city pages close to December 31.

Request the ride when you know the date, addresses, passenger count and vehicle needs. Include the venue entrance and event-night pickup details with your request.
