JFK ↔ LGA Car Service

Both airports are in Queens—12 miles apart by road—but no AirTrain, subway, or bus connects them directly. Private car service between JFK and LaGuardia—timed to your actual flight arrival, not the schedule.

Close on the Map. Far Apart in Practice.

JFK and LaGuardia look close on a map—both in Queens, separated by about 12 miles. But the drive goes through some of the most congested highway segments in the city: the Van Wyck Expressway, the Grand Central Parkway, and the approaches to each airport. Off-peak, this is a 25–35 minute drive. During rush hour, it stretches to 50–75 minutes. There is no margin for guesswork when you have a departing flight.

This is the most common inter-airport transfer in the NYC area, typically booked by travelers with split-airline itineraries. You arrive at JFK on one carrier and depart from LaGuardia on another—or vice versa. The reason it requires a private car: no public transit connects these two airports. The Q70 bus runs from LGA to the 7 train, but getting from JFK to LGA by transit takes 90+ minutes and multiple transfers with luggage.

Your transfer includes complimentary flight tracking, 60 minutes of wait time for domestic arrivals (90 for international), and direct chauffeur communication. The chauffeur texts you terminal-specific pickup instructions after you land.

The Van Wyck and Grand Central: Your Two-Highway Transfer

Van Wyck Expressway

The Van Wyck connects JFK to the rest of Queens and is the primary bottleneck. It funnels all JFK traffic into a limited number of lanes heading north. Weekday congestion can double the 15-minute segment to 30+.

Grand Central Parkway

This parkway runs along northern Queens directly to LaGuardia. Traffic pattern depends on time of day and whether there are events at Citi Field or the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center nearby.

Checked Bags = More Time

Baggage claim at JFK international terminals runs 20–40 minutes. If your LGA connection is under 2.5 hours away, traveling carry-on only is the difference between comfortable and cutting it close.

Customs at JFK

International arrivals at JFK add 20–45 minutes for customs and immigration before you even reach the pickup area. Factor this into your connection window—it is the single biggest variable.

JFK: Where Your Chauffeur Waits

JFK has six terminals, and the pickup experience differs at each. Terminal 4 (Delta’s international hub) has a dedicated for-hire vehicle area. Terminal 5 (JetBlue) has had temporary pickup relocations due to construction. Terminal 1 handles European carriers and has its own curbside rules. Your chauffeur knows the current pickup configuration for your specific terminal.

What you do:provide your airline and flight number when booking. After landing, keep your phone on. Your chauffeur texts you with the exact pickup location—which exit to use, which level to walk to, and where to look for the vehicle. This is especially important at JFK, where construction detours can send you to a different pickup point than what Google Maps shows.

LGA Terminal B: Garage Level 2 Pickup

LaGuardia’s Terminal B (the main terminal serving American, Southwest, United, and others) directs for-hire vehicle pickups to the Terminal B Parking Garage, Level 2—not the general curbside where taxis queue. If you walk out the wrong exit and wait at the taxi stand, you will not find your chauffeur.

This is the single most common source of confusion on LGA pickups. Your chauffeur stages at the garage level and texts you step-by-step walking directions from baggage claim: which exit, which elevator bank, which level. Follow the text instructions, not the general airport signage for “ground transportation.”

How Much Time Do You Actually Need?

The drive is only 25–50 minutes. But the total transfer time includes deplaning, bags, getting to the car, the drive, and re-checking in at LGA (or JFK).

Where time disappears

  • Customs at JFK international: 20–45 min
  • JFK baggage claim: 15–30 min for checked bags
  • Walking to pickup area (JFK terminals are large)
  • Van Wyck Expressway congestion: can add 20+ min
  • LGA re-check-in and security: 30–60 min

How It Works

1

Provide Both Flights

Book online with your arriving flight (JFK or LGA) and departing flight details. We calculate whether you have enough buffer and flag any concerns about tight timing.

2

Live Flight Monitoring

Your arriving flight is tracked from takeoff. If it runs early, your chauffeur arrives sooner. If delayed, the timing shifts. No phone calls or texts needed from you.

3

Queens Pickup

Your chauffeur stages at the correct spot: the for-hire vehicle area at your JFK terminal, or the Terminal B Parking Garage Level 2 at LGA. Specific walking directions are texted after landing.

4

12-Mile Transfer

Van Wyck Expressway to Grand Central Parkway, or the reverse. The route is short but traffic-dependent. Your chauffeur drops you at the departing terminal curbside.

Match the Vehicle to Your Bags

This transfer is short enough that legroom matters less than trunk space. If you are carrying two full-size suitcases per person, the sedan will not work.

Policies for JFK ↔ LGA

Flight Tracking

We track your arriving flight at JFK or LGA in real time. Your chauffeur adjusts terminal staging to match actual wheels-down, not the posted schedule. Provide your flight number when booking.

Wait Time (Airport)

60 minutes complimentary for domestic arrivals. 90 minutes for international. Clock starts at actual flight landing time.

Cancellation

No charge at 24+ hours. Half fare at 12-24 hours. 75% at 2-12 hours. Full fare under 2 hours — tight connection timelines make late cancellations costly.

Meet & Greet

$25 add-on. Chauffeur holds your name at JFK baggage claim or the LGA Terminal B/C exit. They carry bags to the vehicle for the 30-50 minute Grand Central Parkway connection between airports.

Child Seats

$25 per seat. Infant, convertible, and booster seats available. Provide age/weight/height at booking for correct setup.

Tolls

Grand Central Parkway and Van Wyck access tolls are inside your JFK-LGA fare. The quoted price holds whether the chauffeur takes the GCP direct or reroutes via the Whitestone during peak congestion.

Why a Private Car for 12 Miles

No Transit Alternative

No bus, train, or AirTrain connects JFK and LGA. Public transit requires 90+ minutes and multiple transfers with luggage. A private car is the only direct ground option.

Timed to Your Flight

Flight tracking means your chauffeur is in position when you actually land, not when the schedule says you should. Late arrivals and early landings are handled automatically.

Split-Airline Connections

This transfer exists because airlines do not coordinate between JFK and LGA. You need a ground connection to make a split-itinerary work. We handle the logistics.

Terminal-Specific Pickup

JFK has six terminals with different pickup rules. LGA Terminal B uses a garage pickup. Your chauffeur knows exactly where to stage and texts you directions.
