How long is the drive from LaGuardia to Grand Central?

Without traffic, LaGuardia to Grand Central is about 15 to 16 minutes and 8.5 miles, by routing estimates for the two trips below. It is one of the shortest airport runs in the city, because the Queens-Midtown Tunnel comes out a few blocks south of the station. Rush hours on the expressway add time.

TripDistanceDrive time without traffic
Terminal B to Grand Central Terminal8.3 miabout 15 min (estimate)
Terminal C to The Westin New York Grand Central8.6 miabout 16 min (estimate)

Drive times are estimates (OSRM free-flow routing with no traffic, checked Oct 30, 2026). Traffic varies, and rush hour, weather, tunnel delays and airport construction add time.

Which route does the chauffeur take, and what tolls apply?

The chauffeur takes the Grand Central Parkway and the BQE to the Long Island Expressway, then the Queens-Midtown Tunnel, which comes out near East 36th Street. From there it is a few blocks up Park or Lexington Avenue to 42nd Street. If the tunnel is slow, the Queensboro Bridge is the alternative.

The MTA tolls the Queens-Midtown Tunnel in both directions (MTA), and the toll is in your price. Grand Central is inside the MTA Congestion Relief Zone, so the $0.75 black car charge per trip applies (MTA). That is in the price too.

Which Grand Central entrance should I choose?

Grand Central has several street entrances, and the right one depends on where you go next. The main 42nd Street entrance suits the Main Concourse and Metro-North. The Lexington Avenue side is closer to The Westin and East Side offices. For the LIRR, Grand Central Madison is below the station, with entrances near Madison Avenue.

The Westin New York Grand CentralThe hotel name, 212 E 42nd St
Offices on Park or Lexington AvenueThe building address and lobby entrance

I am connecting to a Metro-North train. How much time should I allow?

Plan the ride around the train, not the landing. Add time for bags, the walk to the pickup point and the tunnel, then a buffer before departure. Metro-North trains leave on time, so if the gap is tight, tell us the train time in the notes and choose an SUV if you have several bags.

How does waiting time work?

Waiting time depends on the pickup. Home, hotel and office pickups have a 15-minute grace period, after which waiting time applies. Airport arrivals have a 60-minute wait time after a domestic landing and a 90-minute wait time after an international landing, counted from when the flight lands, and every airport pickup includes flight tracking, so an early or late flight moves your pickup with it.

Pickup typeGrace period or wait time
Regular pickup (home, hotel, office)15 minutes
Domestic flight arrival60 minutes after landing
International flight arrival90 minutes after landing
Flight trackingIncluded on airport pickups

See the wait time policy for the full terms, and add meet and greet if you want the chauffeur inside the terminal.

Both SUV classes seat 6 and suit families or travelers with large suitcases making a train connection. For a group arriving together, the Jet Sprinter seats 10 and the Executive Sprinter seats 13.

Can I book a multi-leg trip?

Yes. A multi-leg trip puts several stops or legs on one booking, such as a bag drop at an East Midtown hotel before a Metro-North train. Add each stop at /book and the all-in price covers the whole trip. If the car should wait at a stop, hourly service at $120 per hour, 3-hour minimum, may fit better.
