Your chauffeur picks you up at the exact Upper West Side address you enter: a prewar building on Central Park West, a brownstone on a side street, a hotel on Broadway or a building on Riverside Drive. Add the entrance, a doorman note or a cross street in the booking notes. For hotels, give the hotel name.
| Upper West Side pickup | Pickup tip |
|---|---|
| Central Park West and Riverside Drive buildings | Give the main entrance or the side street door the doorman uses |
| Hotels on Broadway such as Hotel Beacon | Give the hotel name; the car comes to the main entrance |
| Lincoln Center | Name the hall and the street, such as Columbus Avenue or 65th Street |
| Brownstone side streets | Give the house number and the nearest avenue |
How long is the drive from the Upper West Side to Newark?
Without traffic, the Upper West Side to Newark Airport is about 30 to 34 minutes and 16.5 to 18 miles, by routing estimates for the three trips below. The West Side is the quicker Manhattan side for Newark, because Ninth and Tenth Avenues lead straight to the Lincoln Tunnel. Weekday afternoons in the tunnel add time.
| Trip | Distance | Drive time without traffic |
|---|---|---|
| American Museum of Natural History to Terminal C | 18.2 mi | about 34 min (estimate) |
| Terminal B to David Geffen Hall, arrival | 16.7 mi | about 33 min (estimate) |
| Hotel Beacon (Broadway and W 75th St) to Terminal A | 17.0 mi | about 30 min (estimate) |
Drive times are estimates (OSRM free-flow routing with no traffic, checked Oct 30, 2026). Traffic varies, and rush hour, weather, tunnel delays and airport construction add time.
When should I leave the Upper West Side for Newark?
Work back from the time your airline asks you to be at the airport, then add the drive estimate and a traffic buffer. The Lincoln Tunnel and Route 495 are slow on weekday afternoons and before holidays. If you are unsure, choose an earlier pickup; your pickup has a 15-minute grace period.
Which route does the chauffeur take, and what tolls apply?
From the Upper West Side, the chauffeur heads down Columbus, Amsterdam or Ninth Avenue to the Lincoln Tunnel, then takes Route 495 and US 1 and 9 south to the airport. On the way home, the tunnel brings you into the West 30s and 40s, and Tenth Avenue or the West Side Highway lead uptown to your address.
| Road or crossing | What it does on this trip | Toll |
|---|---|---|
| Columbus, Amsterdam or Ninth Avenue | Downtown to the Lincoln Tunnel entrance | No toll |
| Lincoln Tunnel | Crosses the Hudson to New Jersey | No toll toward New Jersey; toll entering New York |
| Route 495 | Weehawken approach to the tunnel | No toll |
| US 1 and 9 | Main road to the Newark terminals | No toll |
The Port Authority collects the Lincoln Tunnel toll only from drivers entering New York (panynj.gov), so it applies on the ride home, and it is in the price. The New York State congestion surcharge ($2.75 for a for-hire trip) applies only to trips that begin and end in New York State, so a trip to or from Newark does not carry it (NYS Tax Department).
Where will my chauffeur meet me when I land at Newark Airport?
On the ride home, the meeting point comes first. The chauffeur tracks your flight into Newark, so you can collect your bags before you call. The default pickup is the arrivals curb at Terminal A or B. At Newark Terminal C, your chauffeur meets you at the arrivals curb or in the Terminal C Garage, Level 3. With meet and greet, the chauffeur waits inside with a name sign.
- Add your airline and flight number when you book. The chauffeur tracks the flight from takeoff.
- After landing, collect your bags at Terminal A, B or C and call 888-887-0324 or the chauffeur number in your booking.
- At Terminal A or B, walk to the arrivals curb. At Newark Terminal C, your chauffeur meets you at the arrivals curb or in the Terminal C Garage, Level 3.
- With meet and greet ($25), the chauffeur waits inside the terminal with a name sign and walks you to the car.

How does waiting time work?
Waiting time depends on the pickup. Home, hotel and office pickups have a 15-minute grace period, after which waiting time applies. Airport arrivals have a 60-minute wait time after a domestic landing and a 90-minute wait time after an international landing, counted from when the flight lands, and every airport pickup includes flight tracking, so an early or late flight moves your pickup with it.
| Pickup type | Grace period or wait time |

| Domestic flight arrival | 60 minutes after landing |
| International flight arrival | 90 minutes after landing |
