Times Square Car Service: Pickups That Succeed in Chaos

Times Square is the world's most famous entertainment district — and its most challenging pickup zone. The Times Square Alliance defines the district as 40th to 53rd Streets between Sixth and Eighth Avenues. Within these blocks you will find 41 Broadway theaters, over 50 hotels, the Port Authority Midtown Bus Terminal (the nation's largest bus terminal at 625 Eighth Avenue between 40th and 42nd Streets), and nightly pedestrian crowds that make curbside stops nearly impossible on Broadway and Seventh Avenue.

True North VIP provides car service designed specifically for this reality. Our chauffeurs do not attempt Broadway curbside pickups — instead, they use precise cross-street meet points one block off the main pedestrian corridor. For Broadway shows, we time drop-offs to curtain and stage vehicles on side streets for post-show pickups. For Port Authority arrivals, we coordinate on the 41st or 42nd Street exit side. For hotel pickups, we work with doormen on adjacent loading zones rather than fighting for space on the avenue.

Whether you need an airport transfer from your Times Square hotel, an hourly chauffeur for a dinner-and-show evening, or a point-to-point ride to or from Port Authority, our vetted chauffeurs and flat-rate pricing make a pickup succeed where rideshare often fails.

Times Square Areas We Cover

The core Times Square blocks, hotel corridors, the Theater District, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal area — our chauffeurs navigate every cross street daily.

Times Square Core

42nd–47th St between Broadway & 8th Ave

  • Pedestrian plazas on Broadway — no vehicle access between 42nd-47th
  • Seventh Avenue — heavy traffic, limited curbside staging
  • Cross-street meet points on 43rd, 44th, 45th, 46th (east-west)
  • NYPD crowd management zones during peak evenings

Theater District & Restaurant Row

41st–54th St between 6th & 9th Ave

  • 41 Broadway theaters from 41st to 54th Streets
  • Restaurant Row: West 46th between 8th and 9th Avenues
  • Pre-show drop-offs timed to curtain (7 PM, 8 PM, or 2 PM matinee)
  • Post-show staging on 8th/9th Ave side streets for fast pickup

Port Authority / Midtown Bus Terminal

625 8th Ave (40th–42nd St)

  • NJ Transit, Greyhound, Peter Pan, and regional bus arrivals
  • 41st Street side exit — south side of the terminal
  • 42nd Street side exit — connects to Times Square pedestrian flow
  • Chauffeur coordinates with your bus arrival time and exit level

Hotel Corridors

Major hotels on 42nd–50th, 6th–8th Ave

  • Marriott Marquis (1535 Broadway), Hilton Times Square (234 W 42nd)
  • W New York (1567 Broadway), Crowne Plaza (1605 Broadway)
  • Doorman coordination — car staged at building loading zone
  • Side-street pickups avoid Broadway and Seventh Avenue gridlock

Broadway & Show-Night Pickups

The Theater District between 41st and 54th on Broadway hosts over 40 theaters. Our chauffeurs handle pre-show drop-offs and post-show pickups every night of the week.

Pre-Show Drop-Off

  • Book for "doors time" — typically 30-45 minutes before curtain. Evening shows start at 7 or 8 PM; matinees at 2 PM.
  • Theater-door staging — our chauffeur pulls up to the theater entrance on the cross street (not Broadway) for a quick curb exit.
  • Restaurant Row option — for pre-theater dinner, we drop you at West 46th Street between Eighth and Ninth, then return for the theater at curtain.

Post-Show Pickup

  • Set a time window — most shows end 2.5-3 hours after curtain. We stage your vehicle 15 minutes before the expected finale.
  • Side-street staging — 8th or 9th Avenue cross streets keep the car one block from the theater exit, away from the post-show crowd surge on Broadway.
  • Text with meet pin — you receive the exact GPS pin and cross-street location via text so you walk directly to the car without searching.

Broadway.org provides the official Theater District map with every venue location. Share your theater name at booking and we will confirm the optimal drop-off and pickup cross street for that specific venue.

Port Authority Pickups

The Port Authority Midtown Bus Terminal at 625 Eighth Avenue is the busiest bus terminal in the nation. Arrivals exit onto some of Midtown's most congested blocks — here is how we handle it.

41st Street Exit (South Side)

The south exit deposits passengers onto 41st Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. This is the quieter option. Our chauffeur stages on 41st Street near the Ninth Avenue corner, one block west of the terminal entrance. You walk directly out and into the car. Best for NJ Transit commuters and passengers with luggage.

42nd Street Exit (North Side)

The north exit opens onto 42nd Street — the busiest crosstown corridor in Midtown. We avoid staging directly on 42nd Street due to heavy traffic and no-standing enforcement. Instead, our chauffeur stages on 43rd Street between Eighth and Ninth, one block north. Text us when you exit and the car will be curbside within one to two minutes.

Pro tip: Share your bus company, route number, and scheduled arrival time at booking. If your bus is delayed, we monitor and adjust. For late-night Greyhound or Peter Pan arrivals, our 24/7 service means a chauffeur is waiting regardless of the hour.

Curbside Reality in Times Square

The Times Square Alliance provides transportation and parking guidance for the district. Here is the practical reality our chauffeurs navigate daily so you do not have to.

Pedestrian Volume

Over 300,000 pedestrians pass through Times Square daily. The Broadway pedestrian plazas between 42nd and 47th are car-free. Our meet points are always on cross streets or parallel avenues where vehicles can legally stop.

No-Standing Zones

Seventh Avenue and Broadway between 42nd and 50th are heavily enforced no-standing zones during evening and weekend hours. Our chauffeurs know the enforcement windows and use adjacent blocks where brief passenger stops are permitted.

Our Approach

Choose a meet point slightly outside the densest block when possible. We recommend one block east (toward Sixth) or one block west (toward Ninth) of the core Broadway corridor. The difference between a one-minute walk and a 15-minute gridlock wait is significant.

Airport Transfers from Times Square

Times Square's central Midtown location puts all three airports within reach. Add your flight number, luggage count, and a firm departure buffer when booking.

50-75 min from Times Square

  • Route: Midtown Tunnel → LIE → Van Wyck Expressway
  • International flights: allow 3.5+ hours pre-departure
  • Early AM (pre-6): as fast as 40 minutes

Closest airport — 25-45 min

  • Route: Cross-town → FDR/2nd Ave → Triborough Bridge
  • Domestic flights: most convenient from Times Square
  • Off-peak: can be under 25 minutes

35-60 min from Times Square

  • Route: Lincoln Tunnel → NJ Turnpike south
  • NJ surcharge ($20) applies — included in quote
  • United hub: fast option from west Midtown

Every airport transfer includes: Real-time flight monitoring, automatic delay adjustments, meet-and-greet option at baggage claim, luggage assistance, and flat-rate pricing locked at booking — no surge regardless of weather, traffic, or demand. Learn more about airport services.

How It Works

Four steps from booking to arrival. The entire process takes under two minutes online.

1

Reserve Online

Enter your Times Square hotel, theater, or terminal as the pickup point. Add your destination, date, time, and passenger count. Get an instant flat-rate quote.

2

Add Show Details

Include theater name and curtain time, hotel name, Port Authority exit preference, flight numbers, or specific cross-street instructions. The more detail, the better the pickup.

3

Chauffeur Stages

Your vetted chauffeur arrives at the confirmed cross-street meet point — not on Broadway, not on Seventh Avenue. You receive a text with vehicle details and exact GPS pin.

4

Ride & Arrive

Walk to the car (typically one short block), step in, and your chauffeur navigates you out of the district via the fastest corridor. Flat rate, no surge, no meter.

Transparent Policies

Flat-Rate Pricing

Your quote is locked at booking. No surge during Broadway curtain calls, holiday crowds, or New Year's Eve. The price you see is the price you pay.

Flight Tracking

Provide your flight number at booking. Our system tracks arrivals from JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark and dispatches your chauffeur based on actual landing time.

Free Cancellation

Cancel or modify up to 24 hours before your scheduled pickup at no charge. Cancellations within 24 hours may incur a partial charge. No-shows are charged the full fare.

Child Seats

Rear-facing, forward-facing, and booster seats available for $25 each. Select during booking and specify ages. Seats arrive pre-installed and safety-checked.

Why Reserve in Times Square

Constant demand means "no cars available" is a real problem during show endings, holidays, and terminal rush hours. Reservations solve this.

Post-Show Surge

When 40+ Broadway theaters empty simultaneously between 10 and 11 PM, tens of thousands of people compete for cars. Rideshare prices spike 2-3x. A reserved car at a confirmed side-street pin means you walk one block and leave — no app, no surge, no wait.

Holiday Crowds

Thanksgiving week, Christmas season, and New Year's Eve transform Times Square into one of the most congested zones on Earth. Street closures and NYPD checkpoints change the pickup landscape. Our chauffeurs know the alternate routes and staging areas for these special periods.

Terminal Rush

Port Authority handles over 200,000 commuters daily. During evening peak (5-7 PM) and late-night arrivals, the surrounding blocks are packed. A reserved chauffeur on a side street one block from your terminal exit gets you moving immediately.
